New to Natural Deodorant? Here’s what to Expect.
Natural Deodorants have a bit of a learning curve…
Well, not really learning as your body is handling it for you! But let us explain to you what to expect.
For some people, making the switch to natural deodorants is as simple as buying a scent you enjoy! For others, it takes a bit more than that. See, natural deodorants are meant to work in two different ways: 1.) Baking soda, arrowroot, and other natural ingredients are intended to dry your underarms. This is to prevent the healthy bacteria on your skin from consuming your sweat, which is what causes the odor. 2.) Different formulations are meant to naturally balance your pH levels, which can affect how a deodorant works.
That being said, for some individuals, pH levels are a finnicky thing. Deodorants with baking soda are safe, but for some individuals whose pH is more on the acidic side, this ingredient is just a no-go (baking soda is an alkaline ingredient). This is why we recommend our sensitive line, which uses magnesium to get the same odor-preventing relief as our original line while still playing a neutral role as it interacts with your pH.
For others, it might take some time for your body to simply adjust to a new product. This is referred to as the ‘adjustment period’ or detox. This is the phase that some may be experiencing when they claim that natural deodorants simply don’t work, or it’s not for them. But that’s not true! It just may take time for it to sync with your body, you won’t regret it once it does. If you have any further questions and concerns, feel free to reach out to us!
